Welcome to The Uummati Perinatal Training
Our goal is to provide support services to all birthing people in Nunavut, and specifically the Qikiqtaaluk region. We aim for all birthing people and their families to feel informed, supported and empowered.
Uummati Perinatal Youth Education Program
This program will have 7 sessions run by facilitators with Childbirth Education and Traditional Inuit Midwifery knowledge. Our mission is for birthing people and their partners to feel informed, empowered, and supported from pregnancy to the early childhood years.
Uummati PerinatalWorkshops and Client Care
Our mission is for birthing people and their partners to feel informed, empowered, and supported from pregnancy to the early childhood years. The long-term benefits of this mission will create healthier families and more confident parents. It will create a more positive birth experience by offering non- medical and culturally relevant continuous support.
Uummati Professional Development Training for Inuit Perinatal Support Workers
In partnership with Tasiuqtigiit Centre and funded by Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation, we present:
The Uummati Perinatal Professional Development Training for Inuit.
This training is offered online and for all Inuit in Nunavut.
This is a smaller training for Inuit interested in or already working in the perinatal field (fertility, pregnancy-postpartum and the early years). This training will pass on Doula support skills and traditional knowledge to Inuit. With these skills, they will be able to host their own support groups or one on one care with families and birthers in the perinatal period.
